HOMAGE TO MIKIS THEODORAKIS

Settings by the poets Elytis, Ritsos, Seferis, Behan, Theodorakis and Gatsos, among others, an intercultural encounter between German and Greek musicians.
“Homage” to the great master of Greek art and folk music Mikis Theodorakis, who recently died on 2.9.2021 in Athens at the age of 96.
The ensemble Stavros Anestopoulos (vocals), Lazaros Zdoupas (bouzouki, baglama), Harald Eller (guitar) and Elke Masino (piano) play a selection of his world-famous songs, settings of famous poets, such as Elytis, Ritsos, Seferis, Kambanellis, Gatsos and others, but also his own texts. The repertoire also includes famous film melodies.
The project was created in April 2021. The ensemble then met for rehearsals in the summer of 2021 in the Greek mountain village of Tseria-Mani.

Cantata Evening
“Tonight my guitar sounds”

The brothers Spyros and Makis Karaviotis (tenor secundus) with their guitars and the baritone Leonidas Andipas, who come from the homeland of Greek bel canto on Kefalonia, take us on a musical journey to the three-part Ionic and Attic cantatas.
The melodious voices of the singers together with their guitars convey in a special way a historical review of the essence of the cantatas, starting with the Ionic love songs followed by those from Athens and the popular songs of wine and taverns. . We will hear such well-known songs as “Απόψε την κιθάρα μου, Εισ τον αφρό τησ θάλαςςασ, Κελαηδήςτε ωραία μου πουλάκια, Παλιά ταβερνα, Εγω θα κόψω το κραςί, κ.ά.” (Tonight my guitar sounds, In the sea foam, Chirp beautifully my little bird, I have to stop with the wine, etc.).
The concert will be performed by the excellent vocal trio with the brothers Karaviotis (vocals – guitars) and the baritone Leonidas Andipas.
